ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY PROGRESS FOUNDATION

The activities of Progress Foundation center on four areas:

1. The Foundation organizes lectures and discussions usually in the form of Economic Conferences. Usually the format includes a European and an American speaker on an important subject. The lectures both serve to provide different perspectives, while also providing a cultural link between the USA and Europe.

2. The Foundation also sponsors workshops where texts are discussed within a restricted circle of experts. The purpose of the workshops is to provide thought-provoking impulses and new insights for about fifteen opinion leaders in the areas of science, politics, economics and the media, with the hope of benefiting their respective activities.

3. The Foundation also propagates its philosophy and ideas by means of publications. Contents of many of the lectures held at the various Economic Conferences have been printed in both German and English. The English texts are published by our sister organization, the American Institute of Economic Research (Great Barrington, Massachusetts). Additionally, Progress Foundation has supported the publication of specific books, such as the two collections of quotations taken from the works of Friedrich August von Hayek and Wilhelm Röpke, published by Gerd Habermann.

4. Progress Foundation allocates Scholarship Grants to Swiss students contemplating participation in a summer program of studies in the United States organized by the American Institute for Economic Research. Occasionally, the Foundation also grants financial support to research projects conforming to the purposes pursued by the Foundation.
